It seemed like the collective voice of Seoul’s fashion elite was screaming, “Drama! Showmanship! Individuality!… On our sleeves!”Although I sometimes find South Korea to be a bit homogenous, it’s not uncommon to recognize a national uniform of hairstyles, make-up, accessories, and sometimes even facial features, it seemed this trend created a way to fit in and stand out.Special sleeve detail was something I could not escape no matter where I went; street market or department store.
This is definitely one of those trends you might have more confidence rocking in Asia. But, I’m noticing bolder and playful runway-inspired styles popping up stateside. Regardless, I was in love with all the shapes and details I caught every day.
Sleeves Are the Star
If you’re timid, go for an unbuttoned cuff or an extra-long length. In between? A subtle ruffle or a dainty tie will do the trick. But, if you’re feeling like a trendsetter, bring some drama to the wrist!
Let your sleeves be the star of the show. Pair your fun top with an understated bottom. And, finish off your bold statement with some streamlined accessories. This way, you can keep the focus on your wrists.
However you choose to wear this trend, I guarantee you’ll have fun.
With temperatures rising and sleeves disappearing, jump on this while you can! Although, I have a sneaky suspicion this is going to translate into warm-weather tops. 😉
