Business casual is the best of both worlds. Spotted only a few steps from my front door.
My December calendar is here! Back when I started my fashion calendars in April, I didn’t know if I would make it to the end of the year. (I hoped I would, but I was skeptical it could actually happen.) Well, here we are!
I can’t believe 2017 is coming to an end. What a wild year filled with dramatic ups and downs (as is life.) I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and a very Happy New Year!

To say Chriselle Lim is someone I look up to would be an understatement. Aside from her obvious outward beauty, she is a strong and hard-working woman who has definitely risen to the top of her game. Did I mention she has a husband and toddler, too?
At last week’s Armani Box blogger event, I got to meet Chriselle. (Yay.) After hearing all about her skincare routine and philosophy, the floor was open for questions. So, I had a chance to ask about something I struggle with. How do you balance personal life with work life? Working from home and being self-employed seems really glamorous. And, people assume it is a charmed life. I won’t lie, there are definitely perks. But, when your success is built by your own hands, sometimes it’s hard to slow down and nearly impossible to step back.
After stating that my question was one of her favorite topics to address (Eeeee!) Chriselle admitted that work-life balance is nearly impossible to maintain. Despite it’s popularity, she said she grew away from the frequently used term. Instead, she realized it is more like a work-life seesaw. When one side is up, the other might be down. She jokingly shared, “You can have it all, just not at the same time.”
My most recent trip to Seoul was a little bit different. I was with one of my closest friends, hooray! I also had newly discovered and harnessed confidence! 🎉
I always looked at other artists’ travel journals online with envy. Page after page of energy-filled sketches… Whenever I travel, I usually pack a blank sketchbook, supplies, and good intentions. And, some how I end up returning with a blank sketchbook, supplies, and regret.
What I learned on this trip was that “just going for it” is your best ally. I think drawing so much these days (two classes and weekly open-drawing sessions) has taken the fear out of approaching a blank page. If my drawing ends up a failure, I can just make another one.
Anyway, I had a super-duper fun time in Seoul. And, I’ll be sharing a few more of my favorite spots over the next few days. Thanks so much for viewing!
I thought it’d be nice to share and document some of my favorite spots from my latest trip to Seoul. I know there aren’t any drawings – I hope you enjoy!
During the second half of my trip, I rented a cozy Airbnb in Yeonnam. It’s a neighborhood known to be a bit quieter than nearby Hongdae, but just as hip and artsy. There’s no limit to the number of coffee shops, bakeries, bars, boutiques, and flower cafes.
I was there on a Friday afternoon around 3pm before the crowd kicked in. Slowly, but surely, it filled up with friends and couples. I ordered a grapefruit drink 자몽 에이드 which turned out to be really delicious. To my pleasant surprise, everyone received a complimentary bouquet with their order! How lovely! I hope Ver’s stands the test of time. I would love to go back.

Hi, I’m Katie.
I love drawing people on the subway, taking creeper photos of people to sketch later, going to Karaoke, playing Call of Duty, and eating popcorn (and pretty much all food.)
