A friend suggested I write about how to wear your dresses in cold weather – what a brilliant idea!  A lot of my friends (including the one who inspired this post) own several sheath dresses.  Don’t let them go to waste this winter!  Layering is the trick (oh yeah, and tights.)

Add pieces under or over.  A solid shirt is an easy match if your dress is a bright color or bold pattern. (J.Crew has the perfect tee to go beneath thin dresses.)

Bring your sheath to a casual place with a textured cardigan and fun accessories.  Add a pop of color with a belt and trend-right prints with flats.  Voila, you’re ready for brunch and shopping!

You can use a silk scarf to make your look fashion forward.  I love how it works with a structured jacket.  I chose this one because the peplum adds oomph to the silhouette.  (And, it’s heathered!)  I also can’t stop obsessing over these Madewell suede pumps.  They’re color-blocked and kind of amazing.

I hope these suggestions help you get some mileage out of your sheath dresses!  Nothing’s worse than a sad dress just hanging in the closet all winter.  <3 Thanks for viewing.
